Project Can It Still be Heard Tomorrow?
On the island of Susak, in 2022, she recorded Mrs Gašparina, one of its last remaining residents, singing an almost forgotten local song. The song has stayed in her performances since.
She arrives in a village that reminds her of her Slovenian home and begins with what is sung and told here. Traditional songs are her starting material; through encounters with residents and her practice of gesture conducting, they can turn into shared improvisation. The composition that follows traces how an encounter becomes memory: recognisable voices and songs slowly dissolve into prepared piano and electronics.
With Tututu Orchestra, the ensemble she founded in 2021, she has developed a form of conducted improvisation in which openness and a willingness to play together are enough to perform.
Odjeci is the sound art fellowship at Zvjezdane Staze: two weeks in Mijakovići, one fellowship per season, for composers and sound artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the post-Yugoslav region, and the diaspora. Next deadline: 1 December 2026.
